Commentary

i: These three words, clearly in the same hand, should be taken together and though the phrase is unique it is analogous to the use of ἔθος, for which see T.27, and similar othe cases where a monogram, apparently for φίλος, stands between a name in the nominative and one in the genitive or dative: see on P.26. The interpretation is conclusive against Applebaum's suggestion that the third word is ethnic, Ὰδδιδαῖος derived from El-Hadida, and indicating a jewish emigré of the time of the Maccabees; see also Lüderitz, loc.cit. The names appear to be reasonably clear.

v: Most probably from the name Ἀτθυμάλλας, which was left uncompleted.
