T.318. Christian funerary curse

Description: Rock-cut tomb inscribed on the façade with T.315, T.316, T.317, T.318; connected, as the names of its owners show, with T.319, T.320, T.321.
Text: Inscribed on the façade within tabella ansata in relief (panel w: 0.72 x h: 0.20) with a Maltese cross in the left ansa; moss has grown over part of the surface since the photograph published by Oliverio was taken, and the right ansa has lost its surface. Above T.315 and T.316.
Letters: Fifth-sixth century: 0.035; lunate epsilon, sigma; superscript bars above the first two abbreviations in line 2 and that in line 3.

Date: Fifth-sixth century.

Line 1: With anathema we would commonly find the imperative, ἔστω; but Pacho read the alpha of ἔσται; Oliverio saw an uncertain iota. Line 2: The form of the curse is paralleled on a tomb-stone from Beer-Sheba, dated in CE 588, SEG 34.1469, available at PHI 320108.
