T.583. Christian funerary inscription

Description: Rock-cut tomb inscribed on the façade, which is in poor condition, with T.581, T.582, T.583, T.584 and T.585
Text: Inscribed within a gabled panel (w: 0.41 x h: 0.34) outlined in relief to the right of the door. There is an incised cross above the point of the gable; it is not certain that the cross is contemporary with the inscription, but it seems to have been carefully centred above the panel, suggesting that it is.

Date: First century CE

Findspot: Taucheira: Quarry East XV, north wall. First recorded in 1936.
