T.11. Fragmentary imperial titulature

Description: Two sandstone architrave blocks originally with moulding above *which survives on b) and with a plain band across the centre of the face (a: w: 1.35 x h: 0.39 x d: 0.54; b: w: 1.79 x h: 0.45 x d: 0.54).
Text: Inscribed on one face. The upper mouldings have been chipped away.
Letters: 0.165.

Date: Probably first century CE

Findspot: Taucheira: East Church, cut down and re-used as column bases in the nave colonnade; found in 1959.

Commentary

The inscription implies a building of some pretensions dedicated to an emperor who was, if the dating of the letters is correct, (it depends heavily on the form of M) Augustus himself. T.12 may be a Greek version of the same text. .
