Description: Sandstone block (w: 1.00 x h: 0.38 x d: 0.59).
Text: Inscribed on one face, which is damaged to the left, in three hands. i at the top left, ii and iii in the centre.
Letters: i. 0.10; ii, iii. 0.06; lunate sigma in ii.

Date: First century BCE to first century CE

Findspot: Ptolemais: Late Baths, Frigidarium (room 6), in the west wall; found in 1957.

Commentary

One of the many fragments of ephebic texts found in the baths, P.178 to P.198.

i. The stone is damaged to the left, but the photograph seems to show traces of Υ before Δ; if that is correct the inscription was continued from a previous block and is presumably part of the name Κλαύδιος.
