Commentary

This is an elaborate inscription for a country site so far off the main road system. The purpose of the list of names is uncertain, but possibly they were men capable of military service or members of a confraternity of some sort (but the numbers seem large for that). The number of Greek names listed is perhaps as interesting, given the findspots, as the number of native ones.

The variable letter sizes suggests that the names were not all cut at once, in which case this might possibly be a list of magistrates.
