M.84. Funerary inscription

Description: Brown limestone stele, slightly tapered and with a base moulding at the back only (w: 0.29 - 0.26 x h: 0.375 x d: 0.145 - 0.11); a representation of a head, cut in one piece with the stele, has been broken off at the top.
Text: Inscribed on one face within a simple moulding, the upper band and the upper halves of both side-bands decorated with incised geometric patterns.
Letters: Perhaps second century CE; 0.025 - 0.035; lunate epsilon, lunate sigma, cursive omega.

Date: Perhaps second century CE

Findspot: Gebel Akhdar: West of Cyrene: Gariet Rdanu with M.82, M.83, M.85, M.86; found in 1966.
Original location: Findspot.
Last recorded location: Tocra Museum.
