C.80. Ephebic names

Description: Marble base with reliefs on two faces: on the front of a figure driving a quadriga, and, on the left face, of a boy leading a horse (w: 0.62 x h: 0.62 x d: 0.355); inscribed on the front face with C.76, C.77, C.78, C.79, C.80, C.81, on the left face with C.82, and on the reverse with C.83. A large square hole has been cut in the back which was only semi-dressed.
Text: Graffito horizontally across the relief, from line 6 running onto the bodies of the horses. Each entry in a different hand.
Letters: Square sigma and cursive omega, intermittently; no measurements; / for son of homonym; L for ἔτους.

Date: 19-28 CE

Findspot: Cyrene: House of Hesychios. Found in 1934.
