IRCyr   Inscriptions of Roman Cyrenaica

A.18. Ephebic names

Description: Base of white marble probably Attic, moulded above on all sides, with a hole on the top for an attachment (w: 0.60 x h: 0.50 x d: 0.48).
Text: Graffiti, a on the upper moulding, which is very worn, and b on the face which is broken away at the upper right corner and damaged along all edges; each entry in a different hand. Pugliese reports that Oliverio also drew . Σ on the moulding but these Reynolds was unable to see (the location is possibly a mistaken reference to b, lines 1-2).
Letters: a: 0.03; b: some certainly Augustan to first century CE, irregularly cut and without proper alignment, size very various, 0.015-0.05.; L for ἔτους; c. and d. no description.

Date: 2 BCE- 5 CE

Findspot: Apollonia: Unrecorded but probably the East Church (the only area being excavated at the time of recording); photographed in 1930.
Original location: Unknown.
Last recorded location: Apollonia Museum, 2008.
