M.79. Funerary inscription

Description: Limestone stele (w: 0.19 x h: 0.66) with acroteria and squared central projection above, perhaps the remains of a rudimentary head.
Text: Inscribed on one face.
Letters: Probably second century CE; 0.025-0.03, lunate epsilon, sigma, omega; strongly marked guidelines.

Date: Probably second century CE

Findspot: Sites between Berenike and Taucheira: Elved Ait el-Gazali, six kilometres SSW of Hamada (formerly Filzi) village, in a rock-cut chamber-tomb with M.77, M.78 and M.80; found in 1963.
