Description: Limestone stele.
Text: Inscribed on two faces. i) on the face, to the right of uninterpretable graffiti; ii) on the top.
Letters: Ave. 0.06, very rough; lunate epsilon.

Date: First century BCE - third century CE

Findspot: South of Berenike: in a disused Arab cemetery at Bir Shathan c.20 km South of Corniclanum/Ajdabia; found in 1972.
Original location: Unknown.
Last recorded location: Corniclanum/Ajdabia: in the Resthouse of the Department of Antiquities.

Commentary

These graffiti are hardly the work of men literate in Greek; since they seem to have drawn on the Greek alphabet it has seemed best to include them; but their date is entirely unknown.
