M.280. Funerary inscription

Description: Rectangular stele of sandstone (w: 0.28 x h: 0.49 x d: 0.085).
Text: Inscribed on one face which is chipped at the centre, within a panel outlined by an incised line (w: 0.245 x h: 0.35) a pair with M.279, q.v.; above the text is an incised design similar to that of M.279, but with the addition of a third palm branch above the circle.
Letters: Freehand letters, first-second century CE; 0.02; cursive omega, lightly incised and rather irregular, between strongly marked guide-lines.

Date: 114/115 CE

Findspot: Gebel Akhdar: East of Cyrene: Blekhna on the edge of the upper escarpment north of Safsaf; found in 1956, with M.279.

Last recorded location: Cyrene Museum.
