Description: Rock-cut tomb.
Text: Inscribed within a rectangular panel (w: 1.18 x h: 1.03), beside the entrance.
Letters: Lines 1,2, c. 0.10; lines 3,4, c. 0.085; lines 5-8, c. 0.08; very badly worn. / for ἀπελεύθερος in lines 5 and 7, in line 7 overlapping the abbreviated name of the patron.

Date: First - second century CE

Findspot: Cyrene: North Necropolis, N.11, beside the road to Apollonia (between N.13 and N.14); first found in 1825.

(Latin): For L(ucius) Vibius Gattabus, freedman of L(ucius). L(ucius) Numisius Mario, freedman of L(ucius), his brother, was responsible for the construction (i.e. of the tomb).

(Greek): Leukios Ouibios Gattabos, freedman of Leukios. Leukios Numisios Mario, freedman of L(eukios), his brother, was responsible for the construction (i.e. of the tomb).

Commentary

line 1 Also in C.555. It is tempting to connect the family with the governor Numisius Marcellianus, but the letter forms here look earlier.
