C.494. Dedication to Demeter and Kore

Description: Small limestone altar with a hollow in the top for a statue base. (h: 0.125. x d: 0.07). Moulded above and below; damaged on the back.
Text: Originally inscribed on all four sides, but the text on the back is now lost.
Letters: Perhaps first - second centuries CE: 0.012; lunate sigma and omega.

Date: First - second centuries CE

Findspot: Cyrene: Sanctuary of Demeter and Kore: Found in the Wadi Bel Gadir (so Ghislanzoni).
Original location: Unknown
Last recorded location: Cyrene Museum.
