Commentary

For this group of texts see commentary on P.1.

Line 2: for the name see M.106, on which Marengo based her restoration here. The compression of the patronymic recalls the practice of writing the name within the letters of the son's name (as e.g. P.11.iv, P.13, P.14).

For the monogram, see on P.3: here it is placed in apposition to the text, clearly describing the pair; it must have a further significance than the simple φίλος.
